Supporting Vulnerable Individuals: A New Pilot for Remand Prisoners

The Wise Group is proud to announce the launch of our Remand Pilot, designed to achieve meaningful outcomes for vulnerable individuals transitioning from remand to community life. This innovative service addresses both the short-term and long-term needs of those in the criminal justice system, ensuring they receive the guidance and resources required for a successful reintegration into society.

Immediate Support: Personalised Plans and Housing Stability

For individuals on remand, the journey back into the community can be overwhelming, often lacking proper support. Our Remand Pilot steps in to provide a personalised release plan, focusing on housing as a critical element. Participants receive short-term housing solutions and work on developing long-term stability, addressing an urgent need for those who may otherwise face homelessness upon release. This personalised approach minimizes the risk of people leaving without the resources necessary to build a secure future.

Holistic Care: Meeting Core Needs

In addition to housing, the Remand Pilot increases engagement with essential services tailored to each individual’s needs. These include physical and mental health care, substance abuse treatment, family relationship counselling, financial advice, employability training, and educational opportunities. By connecting individuals with this holistic network of support, we lay the foundation for their long-term well-being and reintegration into society.

Participants also gain a deeper understanding of their health needs, from managing mental health to addressing substance misuse issues. With improved awareness and access to care, individuals are empowered to take control of their health, a vital step toward stability and resilience.

Long-Term Impact: Sustained Support and Behavioural Change

While the immediate focus is on stabilising individuals in the short term, the long-term goal of the Remand Pilot is to sustain their engagement with mentoring services. By fostering consistent, supportive relationships, participants develop the resilience and motivation needed to make lasting positive changes in their lives. This commitment to behavioural change helps them avoid returning to the criminal justice system and promotes their successful reintegration into their communities.

At its core, the Remand Pilot is about offering vulnerable individuals a second chance—a chance to rebuild their lives, stay connected to essential services, and contribute positively to society. By addressing both immediate needs and long-term goals, we are creating a pathway for lasting change. This pilot is another step forward in our mission to lift people out of poverty, reduce reoffending, and create opportunities for all.
