During Child Mental Health week we have taken the opportunity to reflect on the Relational Mentoring Scotland service, and how this service is supporting families in Scotland.
The service helps people to identify and overcome multiple challenges through the relationship built with a professional mentor. Mentors invest their time, resource, knowledge and experience into building a compassionate, voluntary relationship whereby they can professionally support a person to support themselves.
This service has supported 1125 families with children in Scotland since July 2023, providing support to families in a range of areas including budgeting, reduction of debt, improving income and employment situation, housing support, and addictions to name but a few. Parents benefiting from the service have discussed the benefits of looking after their own priorities, including health and mental health provides them with a much better ability to support their children, and to offer the level of support that their children require.
In a very similar situation to that in an aircraft, where it is essential to apply your own oxygen mask, before helping others, the Wise Group is providing mentoring support to families to empower our customers towards building sustainable futures.
