In a special event in London, we were delighted to launch our joint Commission on Breaking Down Barriers to Employment Opportunity with Rt Hon Justine Greening, Chair of the Purpose Coalition.
Focused on the transformative power of mentoring, the Commission, co-chaired by Justine and Sean Duffy (CEO, The Wise Group), aims to drive long-term change for the vulnerable, emphasizing prevention, social procurement, and impactful solutions in areas like employment and skills, offender rehabilitation, mental health, and fuel poverty.
Aligned with government goals for poverty reduction and improved life chances, the Commission aspires to make a positive impact across the UK.
Sean Duffy said, “We want a future marked by progress for the most vulnerable. Our promise is to craft solutions that offer life opportunities and drive meaningful, long-term change. Our ask is a relentless focus by government on real outcomes for real people”.
Set to influence policy thinking ahead of the 2024 General Election, the Commission brings together thought leaders, politicians, and stakeholders for evidence-based roundtable discussions on key issues such as prison leavers, skills and employment, fuel poverty, and mentoring.
The inaugural roundtable, exploring the theme of widening access to employment for the most vulnerable, featured insights from Wise Group Relational Mentors and marked the Commission’s beginning.
